Pioneer day, hey hey!

Last Saturday evening, Grandma and I traveled downtown with Mike, Katie and their cute family.  The occasion was the Days of '47 Pops Concert at Abravanel Hall.  We found good parking at the new City Creek Center.  Before the concert, I took some pics of our little group.

The three tiers of balcony are lined with pure gold leaf.

After the concert, Erin agreed to have her pic taken in front of the Dale Chihuly glass sculpture, which was bought for $625,000.  Wow!  "Don't sneeze, Erin!!!!!"

In Nordstroms, Jenna poses with some faceless mannequins.

At least Jenna has both a face and also legs.

Before the concert we walked through the new center.  It was my first time inside, and I must say, I was impressed to no end.  The glass top of the mall was closed, and this whole place was air conditioned.

Pretty nice kids

Earlier in the day Mike's family were all in the Days of 47 children's parade.  Now we are all prepared, at least mentally, for the big event on the 24th.

"Pioneer day, hey hey.  It will soon be Pioneer day.  Pioneer day, de dum.  It's pioneers we came from."

Great pictures. Where is this mall, looks awesome! Brendan commented on how Jenna not only had a face, but also legs, unlike the dummies! Sounds like a fun evening!
